Chiba-Ken
Despite their unusual name, Long Island's Chiba-ken has an instantly recognizable sound. The name is taken from a suburb of Tokyo, which lead singer, George Freund, called home the year that the band was formed. He and fellow band members Josh Jaffe, Dan Casper, Elias Tannous and Jason D'Amelio, have successfully blended elements of rock, hardcore and heavy metal into something rough, yet surprisingly smooth.
Since their inception in 2003, Chiba-ken has played hundreds of shows, including a 24-night national tour. They have shared the stage with such national acts as Glassjaw, Powerman 5000, Kittie and Cartel.
Chiba-ken's furious live show and relentless online presence and radio airplay has allowed them to build and maintain a fan base that spans both coasts and everywhere in-between. Their success has led to sponsorships from Jagermeister, Vic Firth, Shore Athletic Apparel and LoveNico Clothing.
In 2006, after recording and releasing their "Winter Sessions" demo, the band caught the attention of Gotham Records, who subsequently signed them. Their debut album, "Are We Innocent?", was released on October 3rd, 2006.
